Dear David

I was a pleasure hearing you speak and meeting you for the first time last night at the Kiwanis Club London (South East). You are quite an inspiration. It is clear that you must have lived through exigent times in your career. Nevertheless, it would seems that you have engaged a positive outlook and have inspired others to move forward. Also worth noticing that you have had over 187,000 hits on your site. Keep up the good work.

Admin reply: Thank you for your kind words Coleen. It was a great pleasure meeting you and so many other gifted and talented people keen to do work for children locally and beyond. The networking after the formal business was also very enjoyable. Future events should be very productive. Best wishes, David

I was interested by something you said on your homepage:
"I was born in Dominica in the Eastern Caribbean and spent my early childhood and formative years there. Some of the essential things I learnt in those early days like self determination, good citizenship and belonging to a world family serve me very well to this day. "

Did you learn this in school curriculum, or by virtue of enlightened relatives? If the former, I find it interesting that I had no such equivalent message imprinted in my psyche at my English School!

tom

Admin reply: Hello Tom
Thank you for your feed-back. Much appreciated. My Primary School Head Teacher, Miss Floss Christian, played a significant part in this. I still keep in touch with her.
Best wishes
David

Dear David,

I must formally congratulate you on your Honorary Master of Arts degree from the London Metropolitan University. It is thoroughly well deserved and another great achievement for others to aspire towards.

As you know, I have been following a lot of your activities with your work on the Lewisham Community Police Consultative Group and your articles in the press on knive crime and Black and Minority Ethnic police officers joining the Metropolitan Police. In these and many more areas you are doing an outstanding job.

Socially, your page on the Dominican Diaspora site is fantastic and attracts regular comments - so keep up your good work.

May you have an enjoyable, successful and blessed 2009.

With the greatest respect and admiration.

Darren Sylvester

Admin reply: Hello Darren

Many thanks for your kind remarks. Much appreciated. I also note your own significant contributions to community groups and organisations.

Your personal support and friendship over many years is also much valued.

Best wishes
David

Dear Mr Michael
I met you briefly at the PROUD presentation in Victoria SW1 last Friday. You present as a confident and successful person with the humility of a disciplined ego. Your achievements are impressive and your website well designed. As I read through, what occurred to me is that you use your considerable experience to enable others and these words of Nelson Mandela came to mind, but not verbatim - so I looked them up:
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glory of God within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." - From Nelson Mandela's inaugural speech (1994)
Best wishes for all your further endeavours and achievements.
Ruby
